Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) is seeking a Bilingual (Spanish) Telehealth Reproductive Health Specialist II (Medical Assistant) for our Administrative office in Concord, CA. This role is full-time, 40 hours per week. SUMMARY The Reproductive Health Specialist II/III in Telehealth (“Telehealth RHS”) provides direct patient care in the Telehealth service including initiation of contact with the patient, registration and insurance verification duties, review of Telehealth specific consents and other requirements, review of sexual and medical history, chart documentation, and scheduling pick up and follow up appointments. The Telehealth RHS provides excellent customer service to patients and members of the Telehealth team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Ability to fully and effectively function as an RHS II/III in the health center; completed front office, back office (TRN-01) and MAB (TRN-05) training. Works on a team with other Telehealth RHSs and Telehealth Clinicians. Communicates regularly and effectively with their direct Telehealth team and the larger Telehealth team for the day. Utilizes Skype or other messaging program to keep partner RHS and Clinician informed. Initiates virtual communication with patients, including both phone and video platforms. Registers new patients at PPNorCal; updates information for established patients. Assess eligibility for funding, health insurance and/or fees. Complete on-line eligibility processes. Input and update patient information in the electronic health record. Ensure clear patient consenting for virtual services; documents in the health record appropriately. Provide accurate, patient-centered health information. Triage questions to Telehealth clinicians as needed. Triage patients to in-person health center visits as needed. Schedules pick up, blood work, follow up or other appointments as needed. Communicates clearly when a patient is ready for the Telehealth clinician. Assist the Telehealth daily team with downtime duties, including but not limited to reviewing future appointments, reviewing payment and insurance information, documenting information or notes in the patient record to support increased communication and efficiency of the Telehealth team. Participate in Telehealth efforts to achieve established goals for productivity. Participate in Telehealth efforts to achieve established revenue cycle goals. Works regularly in a PPNorCal health center providing direct patient care, approximately 20% of the time. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as medical protocols, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to document in medical chart concisely, accurately and according to PPNorCal protocols. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to manage cash, make change, and balance the daily posts. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. COMPUTER/TECHNICAL SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic keyboarding, internet access and email systems. Knowledge/experience with EHR & EPM systems preferred. Knowledge/experience with Skype or other synchronous messaging systems preferred. PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION (PHI) ACCESS REQUIREMENT As required for health care operations and patient treatment. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have reliable automobile transportation and a valid California Driver's License and insurance. Pay Range: The wage scale reflects the compensation that a new employee can expect to receive if offered employment. The wage scale for this position is $25.00 - $29.87 per hour, based on relevant professional years of experience. The Telehealth Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will serve as a local point of contact at the SHC Hospital, be responsible for the local site Telehealth operations and act as the local link between the SHC Hospital, affiliate site, and the Corporate Telehealth department.
