Job Description: The Medical Assistant works with the physician and other members of the primary or specialty care team by performing a variety of clinical and administrative patient-related duties, in the “Front Office” or “Back Office”. The medical assistant also works to fulfill a variety of patient needs and ensures smooth patient flow within the department, including gathering, organizing and documenting healthcare data information. The medical assistant reports directly to the practice manager, RN supervisor or director. Primary Care Services Full Time 86776BR Job Summary Under the supervision of the UCSF Primary Care Administrative Nurse Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, the Hospital Assistant III assists in the delivery of care to patients at UCSF Primary Care.The Hospital Assistant III will be primarily responsible for the members of their primary care teamlet as well as providing back up support to other teamlets. Responsible for stocking supplies and maintenance of exam rooms, front desk, and reception area; ensure providers have medical supplies needed. Responsible for completing order sheets to maintain supply inventory levels; regularly check expiration dates on supplies. Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files. Answer phone calls, collect and sort daily incoming and outgoing postal correspondence Ensure reception is well maintained Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up. Perform opening and closing duties, which includes cashing out, end-of-day communication, and securing the building. Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed. Overview Medical Assistant - Per Diem Location: Oakland The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing routine medical and testing procedures under direct supervision of the treating clinician as well as supports in other areas of the facility as needed including registration and referral management.
