Transplant Coordinator RN

Centralized Organ Recovery Center Roles And Responsibilities

Position summary

The RN will be responsible for all data collection,research and IRB requirements, and quality improvement of the Centralized Organ Recovery Center. The RN reports directly to the Director of Transplant Operations at NYU Langone Health Transplant Institute. The RN will be instrumental in developing policies and protocols in collaboration with the System Director of Organ Donation. These workflows will optimize and standardize clinical care along with ensuring regulatory requirements are met. They will be responsible for maintaining the internal database and working with the System Director of Organ Donation to increase the quality and quantity of organs recovered. RN will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to meet above.

Job Description Duties

Centralized Organ Recovery Center

Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize the workflow of the Centralized Organ Recovery Center

Maintain internal database with optimization from epic reports and automated reports from organ procurement organization to track all organ and tissue procured

Collaborate with local organ procurement organization to optimize and streamline workflows

Collaborate with the System Director of Organ Donation

Assist with research and publications surrounding the Centralized Organ Recovery Center including navigating the IRB requirements

Maintain call schedules to ensure clinical coverage

Lead donor enrollment efforts and education to promote organ donation

Coordinate transfers of patients

Monitor and optimize new EPIC patient class for deceased donors

Educate all staff (RN, MD, NP/PA) on deceased donor patient class

Collaborate with MCIT and EPIC to create EPIC reports with deceased donor info

Distributes reports demonstrating progress and information about the Centralized Organ Recovery Center

Plan, train, execute, and assess head to bed management of deceased donors

Education,Development and Research

Promotes own professional growth and development in clinical role.

Maintains current expertise in cardiogenic shock management and organ donation.

Serves as a clinical expert and resource for the education of peers, staff members and other health professionals.

Participates in educational and outreach programs for patients and their families, and other health professionals.

Assists in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of research protocols.

Working conditions

Office location. Requirement to use a personal computer and telephone. Collaborate with staff on the inpatient and outpatient clinic settings. May interact with patients and families on the inpatient and outpatient setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensure: Current registration as a Professional Nurse in New York State

Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing

Experience: At least two years of transplant or critical care experience.

Competencies: Self-directed;able to work independently; excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; creative problem solving and critical thinking ability,understanding of complex clinical care protocols; familiarity with state and federal regulations related to organ transplantation and research.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in organ donation, organ transplantation,end stage organ disease or critical care nursing.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $118,614.00 - $168,114.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
