The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a mixed specialty unit with a variety of surgical, medical, and cardiac patients. The patients in this area require progressive close monitoring as they are high risk for status changes. The nurses on this unit create, nurture, and sustain a healthy work environment with a focus on the patient, where staff members take ownership of decisions in which top quality outcomes are achieved.
On this 11-bed unit, nurses primarily care for patients in respiratory failure, sepsis and shock, heart failure, renal failure, stable post-op ENT surgeries, and stroke. As a Registered Nurse you will work in collaboration with the hospitalist team, PT/OT, case management, patient/family liaison, and multiple other disciplines to ensure our patients are receiving excellent care.
Nursing skills gained on this unit:
- Critical thinking assessment skills
- Training for hemodynamic monitoring, EKG analysis, stable infusions, high flow oxygen management, and ACLS emergency management.
- Fostering support for patients and families during challenging times
Unit Successes/Designations:
- Multiple RNs with PCCN certifications
- Multiple DAISY, sunshine, and Lasting Impression nominees and 2 winners in 2023
- 2.5 years CAUTI free

Available Shifts:
- Full-Time Night | rotating weekend and every 3rd holiday rotation
Qualifications
- Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
