Performs all the duties of a Medical/Surgical nurse, as well as assisting the Director holding the accountability for care provided by RN’s, LPN’s, Nurse Interns, Nurse Externs, and other non-licensed personnel assigned to the Medical/Surgical Care Center. Assures direct patient care activities include: assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of outcomes. Supervisor’s abilities are demonstrated in functioning as a professional role model, demonstrating consumer relations and communication skills, problem solving, decision making and providing direction in orientating and training personnel.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and formal training required:
Must be a high school graduate with a Diploma, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Experience Required: Minimum of 1-year supervision experience. Licensure
Licensure Required: Currently licensed in the state of Indiana as a Registered Nurse.
Other: Excellent verbal communication skills necessary in order to instruct and comfort patients and their families maintain effective contacts with a variety of Hospital personnel. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient (infant, child, adolescent, adult, or geriatric) served on assigned unit/department.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to contagious diseases through contact with patients. Cytotoxics may used on floor.
