Position Summary:
Collaborates with physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health. Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders. Delegate to and oversee Nurse Assistant/ Clerk. Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of care plan.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Initiates and provides medically prescribed skilled nursing care and/or health counseling that contributes to the treatment of the medical condition, achievement of the rehabilitation potential, and/or reduction of pain and other symptoms.
- Makes the initial visit to assess the patient’s physical and emotional status, needs, and resources through observation, interview and analysis of records.
- Prepares the nursing plan of care, in accordance with the physician’s plan of treatment, based on problems identified in the nursing assessment and provides patient teaching using the Care Plan/Standard of Care.
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Valid Michigan RN License
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification
- Must satisfactorily complete A.C.L.S. within 3 months of hire or transfer
Preferred:
- Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent
