Overview:
Mercy HaH Acute Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality advanced acute care in the home-setting. The Mercy HaH RN is responsible for delivering daily “hospital-level" patient care that aligns with Mercy’s mission, culture, and standards of practice. As part of the role, the RN provides advanced acute skilled nursing care with clinical and home assessments, teaching, treatments, documentation, and coordination of care with HaH interdisciplinary clinical teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum Required:
- BSN/Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Required or enrolled within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
- Current appropriate state license if required in discipline.
- AHA BLS provider.
- Demonstrates clinical knowledge related to evidence-based practice with the credibility to positively influence the delivery of patient care.
- Proven ability to organize and multitask to meet project deadlines.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of audiovisual equipment is an advantage.
- Knowledge of equipment/technology used in delivery of patient care.Preferred:
- Certified or progress toward certification in a specialty related to responsibilities (if available in discipline) preferred.
- 2 years teaching experience
- Additional life support certifications as required by specialty (ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, TNCC and/or ENPC)

Responsibilities
• Takes Initiative and develops onboarding and competency curriculum:
o Incorporating evidence-based practices, the Nursing Professional Practice Model and Patient Experience initiatives in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of education activities
o Seeking feedback regarding efficiency and effectiveness in delivery of educational programs/activities.
o Congruent with Mercy mission and organizational/strategic initiatives
o Aligned with literacy levels, cultural diversity and learning styles
• Develops a comprehensive orientation and ongoing education and competency plan for licensed and unlicensed co-workers
o Coordinates scheduling of new hires for orientation requirements
o Maintains initial and ongoing competency education records
o Communicates with leaders on delinquent education requirements.
• Creates a climate conducive to learning by fostering a good relationship with learners in a diverse environment
• Maintains proficiency in adult teaching strategies and education tools/methods (virtual/in-person) that develop and enhance critical thinking skills (e.g. mock events, simulation, writing case scenarios, etc.)
• Partners with peers in delivering non unit specific education:
o Delivers hospital and regional residencies curriculums as needed
o Serves as adjunct faculty with academic School of Nursing partners
o Serves as Unit Peer Leaders in partnership with the Safe Patient Handling Program
• Functions as a consultant, Identifying and influencing organization decisions through service on councils, committees, sub committees, community organizations and other relevant groups
o Leads and supports the Ministry education strategy by actively participating in quality improvement activities that ensure quality focused education programs
o Partners with leadership to develop a plan of action to address performance deficits through remediation education
o Acts as a change agent, supporting education needs
• Serves as a preceptor, mentor, resource, and role model, positively influencing others and promoting a culture of excellence and safety
• Participates in personal and professional development activities, creating and maintaining an environment where growth is an expectation.
• Uses effective communication skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation, problem solving, and resourcing.
o Provides clear feedback and positive reinforcement in a timely manner
o Effectively communicates various research/projects and disseminates results with co-workers and leadership
o Facilitates the use of Mercy patient education resources
o Assists staff in seeking out and utilize education to further professional development
• Maintains competency in unit specific nursing skills and technology programs; EMR, Microsoft Office, scheduling platform, learning management system, AV equipment
• Knowledgeable about Mercy policy and procedure (i.e. infection prevention, emergency actions, HIPAA and privacy) assists with updates, drills and educates on knowledge gaps as appropriate
• Performs other duties as assigned
