Summary: Provides professional nursing skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care for assigned patients. The Registered Nurse provides care consistent with the standards of professional nursing.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for caring for patients before and after surgery. Familiar with anesthesiology and be committed to the care of others.
- Responsible for assessing the pre and post op patient needs by checking vital signs, pain level, the site of incision, temperature and respiration.
- Duties include: changing of dressing, turning patients, breathing exercises, and pain management
- Be able to make judgement and assessment both in pre-op and post-op setting of patient status responsible for rousing patient from anesthesia and preparing patient for inpatient transfer of discharged to home.
- Collaborates with team members by sharing relevant information; demonstrating initiative, and supporting team decisions and work life of the department.
- Must be a quick thinker able to stay clam in emergencies and be professional as she/he may oversee other nurses.
Requirements: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois. Previous critical care or PACU experience required. CPR, ACLS, PALS required.
