Evaluates (proactively and retrospectively) the level of patient/parent/legal guardian satisfaction regarding quality of care and/or services in order to advocate and represent the healthcare system to patients, families, physicians, employees, and the community.
Experience
- 5 years of experience in nursing or healthcare field
- Experience in clinical leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a patient representative
Education
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Certification Summary
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of hospital operations and activities
- Demonstrated ability with problem-solving and conflict resolution
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, diplomatically, and with good judgement both orally and in writing
- Computer-literate in Microsoft Office and SMS
Job Responsibilities
- Assists in maintaining, improving, and exceeding expectations regarding patient/family satisfaction with quality of care and services.
- Interacts with patients and families in crisis, working to resolve disputes and serving as an intermediary between clinical staff, physicians, and patients/ families.
- Helps patients and families reach an understanding of clinical processes and procedures they encounter during care.
- Interacts with physicians and clinical staff as a representative for patients and families.
- Maintains data on patient representative activities, compiling statistics for reports related to continuous quality improvement and Joint Commission/Center for Medicaid and Medicare regulatory requirements.
- Makes proactive rounds to clinical areas every shift and reports issues daily to department director/designee for follow-up/resolution.
- Promotes professional development regarding customer service and service recovery.
