Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Wound Care RN works with nursing staff and physicians to provide clinical care of patients with wounds, ostomies, continence and other special skin care needs. Uses general nursing knowledge of physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and health assessment to assist in the intervention of wound, ostomy and continence care problems.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- Current California Registered Nursing (RN) License required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- National Certification in wound care preferred, i.e. (WCC) Wound Care Certification, (WTA) Wound Treatment Associate or equivalent.
Knowledge:
- Minimum of 3 years of recent acute care clinical experience as a Registered Nurse required.
- Prior experience in wound, ostomy and continence care preferred.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Willing to work under supervision to assist and provide evidence-based methodologies to assess patient status and recommend care.
- Ability to lead/facilitate informal educational sessions at the bedside to nursing staff.
- Ability to evaluate progress of wounds.
