Statement of Purpose:
The Nurse Manager maintains responsibility for the provision of professional nursing care demonstrated through the nursing process involving assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. The manager must demonstrate a competent level of behavior in a professional role-including activities related to promotion of quality of care, performance appraisal, education, collegiality, ethics, collaboration, research and resource utilization (Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 2nd Edition, 2010). The nurse manager is responsible for providing clinical leadership to nursing department staff on the individual patient care units/departments. This individual is the operations manager and assumes 24-hour accountability for care provided in their assigned units or department.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing and BSN required. Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferred
Certification/License:
Current RN license in Massachusetts, BLS & ACLS required
Experience:
5 years progressive clinical experience.
3 years of direct management experience including dealing with complex issues
Superior communication skills; skilled listener and encourages direct, open, and honest conversation keeping all staff apprised of appropriate information; Excellent coaching, conflict resolution and mentoring skills
