Embark on a transformative journey in healthcare with the VCU Tappahannock Hospital Nurse Externship program. Starting on May 28th, immediately following Memorial Day, and spanning until August 2nd, this dynamic 10-week externship offers a unique opportunity for nursing students to immerse themselves in real-world clinical experiences while earning a supplemental income.
Tailored for nursing students who have completed their first year in an ADN program or are in the first semester of their junior year in a BSN program, our Nurse Externship provides invaluable hands-on experience under the guidance of seasoned professionals. Throughout the externship, student nurse externs will have the chance to work closely with a preceptor or charge nurse, gaining insights and skills across various units including Intensive Care, Emergency Department, Acute Care, Operating Room, Oncology, and potentially our Dialysis Clinic.
Flexibility is key as externs have the option to float between different departments, enriching their understanding of diverse healthcare settings. This exposure not only broadens their clinical competencies but also fosters adaptability and versatility crucial for their future careers.
At VCU Tappahannock Hospital, we understand the importance of cultivating a supportive environment where nursing students can thrive. Our Nurse Externship is designed to provide a nurturing space for students to grow both personally and professionally. As they work alongside our dedicated team, externs will gain confidence and familiarity, paving the way for a seamless transition into their nursing careers.
Join us in shaping the future of healthcare. Take the first step towards a rewarding nursing career at VCU Tappahannock Hospital, where opportunities abound, and aspirations become reality.
