Overview
The RN acts as a leader in collaborating with providers and members of the interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care. The Centra Medical Group (CMG) registered nurse (RN) plans, coordinates, and manages the care provided to patients in a medical practice under the tenets of Centra's Professional Practice Model. The RN coordinates the various care processes that are necessary to achieve desired outcomes, and delegates, as appropriate. The RN works to promote and sustain a culture reflective of Centra's mission, vision, and values. The practice of the RN reflects the American Nurses Association's (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, the Nurses Practice Act of Virginia, and the ANA Principles of Nurse Staffing.
Responsibilities
Performs physical assessments and health histories
Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients and families
Provides health promotion, counseling and education to patients and caregivers. Identifies patient care requirements by establishing a rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements
Administers medications, wound care, and personal health interventions at the direction of a provider
Maintains accurate, detailed patient records and charts using an electronic medical records (EMR) system
Interprets patient information and makes critical decisions about needed actions in collaboration with a provider and interdisciplinary team members
Assists with direction of care delivery by other healthcare professionals such as LPNs
Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Adheres to CMG Quality Metrics driven by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential and following Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of (HIPAA) regulations
May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time
Qualifications
Required Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
Preferred Education: Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Required Certifications and Licensures: Hold a current, active license as a registered nurse in Virginia or hold a current multistate licensure privilege as a registered nurse. BLS Certification within the first six (6) months of employment, and maintain current BLS Certification
Preferred Certifications and Licensures: Nursing certifications recognized by the ANCC. Example: Ambulatory Nursing Certification
