Salary Range: $18.1600 - $27.9000 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of a licensed registered nurse, the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) assists in direct patient care by providing for activities of daily living (ADL), comfort, nutrition, and hygiene needs for adult and geriatric patients. The Patient Care Assistant takes and records clinical measures collects specimens, provides transportation, maintains equipment and supplies, and may assist in preparing charts. The PCA immediately informs the RN of any changes in patient's condition and reinforces patient teaching as part of providing a safe patient-centered care environment.
In the coordinating role, processes and monitors electronic orders for STAT and ASAP orders, verifies orders, and provides follow-up as needed. Maintains and updates pertinent patient information in computer systems. Answers all phone calls and greets visitors. Completes the Census sheet each night at midnight. Manages call lights. Is an EPIC resource to the department.
