Job Summary
The Nurse Navigator guides patients and families through treatments and care experiences. Collaborates with clinical staff to provide care and referrals. Provides education to clinical staff and supports research initiatives related to complicated conditions. Leads process and quality improvement activities to provide the best possible care. Works with management to achieve and maintain appropriate departmental distinctions and certifications.
Pay Range
Minimum $50.87 Midpoint $67.40 Maximum $83.93
Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience
• Required: Minimum three (3) years of experience as an RN.
• Preferred: Direct experience in specialty care, with background in special projects, interdisciplinary collaboration, and leadership assignments.
Education
• Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Preferred: Master’s degree in related field or in progress
Training
• Required: N/A
• Preferred: Improvement Science training

• Required: Able to provide appropriate family-centered patient care. Strong customer satisfaction, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Able to prepare timely and accurate documentation and reports. Able to perform work according to CHOC policies and procedures, professional standards of care, and applicable laws. Able to use computer and software necessary for the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access); operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, writing, and on the telephone; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; multitask and think critically with ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy; work well under pressure; organize and prioritize workload. Licensure
• Required: Registered Nurse (RN) -California
• Preferred: Basic Life Support (BLS), Certified Pediatric Nurse, CERT/ACLS/PALS.
Work Environments - Functional Demand:
Light - Moderate energy level Lift and carry 25-35 lbs. Push/pull 50-100 lbs. (ie. empty bed, stretcher).
