Job Summary and Qualifications
This position is responsible to coordinate and ensure trauma guidelines and protocols are being followed by the trauma service team. This will aide in the consistent practice between providers related to the care of the critically injured trauma patient. This role will be responsible to help identify issues through the process improvement portion of the trauma program. It requires attention to detail to ensure that all identified loops are closed and that ongoing issues are resolved. This position is responsible for ensuring that adequate data is gathered related to any process improvement process. This position supports the vision of the trauma program and ensures Alaska Regional maintains Level 3 Trauma Verification by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.
What qualifications you will need:
- Current Alaska licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- BSN preferred
- Clinical experience in emergency, critical care, or flight nursing required.
- Previous experience working in a trauma program preferred.
- Previous experience on entering information into and extract reports from trauma database preferred.
- Must maintain continuing education requirements as set forth by the American College of Surgeons for this role.
- Continuing education with focus of obtaining TCRN (Trauma Care Registered Nurse) preferred.
- On-going trauma database training required.
- Must be able to demonstrate competency with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher).
- Position has frequent interaction with in-house and outlying area physicians, nursing staff, EMS agencies, other departments and media representatives. Therefore must have the sensitivity, maturity and ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Must maintain hospital mandatory education and training for nursing.
- AHA CPR for Healthcare Providers certification on hire and TNCC are required within 3 months.
- Will follow hospital dress code and present a professional image at all times.
