Professional Staff Nurse, OP - UPMC Bayfront Ear, Nose and Throat

UPMC’s Bayfront Ear, Nose and Throat office is seeking a dedicated part‑time Senior Professional Staff Nurse, OP to join our team and deliver exceptional care in a collaborative outpatient setting. This role centers on managing our allergy clinic, including administering allergy shots, performing allergy testing, and mixing serums with precision and clinical expertise. In addition, you will support providers by rooming patients, assisting with procedures, and helping ensure a seamless, patient‑focused experience throughout the visit. This part-time position will work 3 days one week and 2 days the next week for a total of 5 days per pay period. Two Saturdays per month may be required from 7:30am to 12:30pm. Eligible candidates may qualify for a sign-on bonus up to $3000.

Candidates will be considered for the Professional Staff Nurse, OP level or the Sr. Professional Staff Nurse, OP level based on qualifications. The Professional Staff Nurse, OP requires a RN license in the state of PA and has a pay range from $28.48 to $41.64. The Sr. Professional Staff Nurse, OP requires a RN license in the state of PA, 2 years of nursing experience, and either a Master's degree in nursing or a UPMC approved national certification and has a pay range from $29.62 to $45.04.

  • They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.,
  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Rating of solid/strong/good or higher on most recent performance evaluation.
  • UPMC approved national certification OR master's degree or higher in Nursing required.
  • UPMC Professional Contribution required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state.

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.

Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate and implement a patient plan of care according to the individual needs of the patient as prescribed by physician, nurse and hospital policy including patient and family. Derives culturally and age appropriate expected outcomes involving the patient, family and other health care providers. Analyzes the health status of the individuals and families comparing the data with the norm, when possible, to determine patient care needs. Assesses patient reports/records change of condition and notifies physician and/or supervisor and intervenes appropriately and documents accordingly. Accepts assignments in areas other than primary unit, and performs duties within individualized competency. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous lifelong learning for self and others. Promotes advancement of the profession through participation in professional organizations. Seeks both formal and independent learning activities using current research findings and other evidence to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and knowledge.
