Qualified Candidates:
  • Acute care NP training and experience with neurology or neurosurgery is strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain or maintain an active Texas medical license.
  • Ability to communicate neuro-interventional plans with primary team.
  • Maintenance of NIHSS certification.
  • Inpatient Only
  • Schedule: 80 hours every two weeks, alternating 3/4; 4/3

Summary The section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology section is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the clinical operations team of the Gastroenterology Team in The Woodlands location . Clinical duties include, but are not limited to, supporting care and management of primarily established patients that have seen a general GI physician in the hospital or outpatient clinic setting. The NP will become familiar over time with nuances of care for this particular patient population, including the various treatment options and procedures that are performed in the evaluation and management of these patients. Job Duties Job duties include, but are not limited to: Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations; work closely with GI physicians on treatment plan, follow-up, medication management. Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments to follow outlined treatment plan. Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures. Perform medical record review, follow developed protocols, determine appropriate patient scheduling, assist with monitoring diagnostic results and patient care progress/processes as requested by the provider, and participate in quality reviews. Assess learning needs and educate patients and family as appropriate concerning disease management. Ensure that referrals to other specialists, radiological, endoscopic and laboratory testing are coordinated with patients and referring physicians. Reviewing test results and patient messages/calls, consulting closely with GI physicians as needed. Minimum Qualifications Education Required: Master’s degree in in Nursing. Experience Required: None required. Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
