Job Description Summary:

It is the responsibility of the Surgical Technologist to function under the direct supervision of an RN
while performing the scrub role on the intraoperative team and/or assisting with other patient care
activities, and in accordance with department policies and procedures.

Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions:

EDUCATION
1. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
2. Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program
3. Completion of Certification program and exam preferred and required for Certified level

EXPERIENCE
1. Two years recent hospital or health care facility experience required
2. Two years current Surgical Technologist experience preferred

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Basic Life Support Required at hire
Certified Surgical Tech Preferred at hire

PREREQUISITE SKILLS
1. Knowledge of surgical techniques, anatomy and physiology
2. Knowledge of surgical procedures and terminology
3. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, and equipment and supplies
4. Ability to work independently, interdependently and under supervision within department and hospital policies
5. Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills required
6. Data entry computer skills required
7. Ability to function in an intermittently stressful environment
8. Ability to teach the role of Surgical Technologist including surgical technique, equipment and instrumentation
