We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Lead Medical Assistant to join our Orthopedics team! The desired schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
This Lead Medical Assistant plays a key leadership role within a fast-paced, patient-centered orthopedic practice, providing hands-on clinical support while overseeing a team of three Medical Assistants and two Orthopedic Technicians. Responsibilities include rooming patients, assisting with orthopedic procedures, coordinating daily staffing coverage, stepping in to support coverage as needed, and ensuring efficient patient flow and high-quality care. In addition, the Lead Medical Assistant provides guidance and mentorship to the team, assists with scheduling, attends meetings, collaborates closely with practice leadership, and serves as a point of contact to escalate workflow or staffing concerns, requiring strong communication skills, clinical expertise, and a confident leadership approach.
Job Summary
SummaryThe role is a vital member of the care team, responsible for exercising appropriate leadership and oversight of clinical operations and Medical Assistant staff throughout the assigned site or department under the direction of the Practice Manager. In addition to performing the duties of a Medical Assistant, the position serves as a role model and resource for site staff. Acting as a liaison between the site-based clinical staff, the Practice Manager, and the Medical Director or Physicians. The Lead facilitates office-wide communication, coordinates new clinical initiatives, and addresses clinical issue resolutions to enhance operational efficiency.

Essential Functions
-Assists in complex office-based procedures and provides clinical oversight for quality control programs.
-Provide leadership to the medical assisting team, including training, mentoring, and performance guidance.
-Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring proper workload distribution and effective utilization of resources.
-Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting teamwork and professional growth.
-Coordinate patient flow, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of care.
-Assist with patient intake, including obtaining medical history, vital signs, and preparing patients for examination.
-Participates in the interview process for new MAs and serves as a preceptor for new hires or students, supervising clinic support staff and creating coverage schedules for the MA team.
-Assists with competency assessment for other MAs and provides input on performance evaluations.

Experience
Experience as a medical assistant, with demonstrated proficiency in clinical and administrative tasks 3-5 years required
