Data Center Operations Non-Clinical Intern

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Center Operations Intern to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role will be the maintenance, repair, and installation of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems across all hospitals and buildings in our network. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in power systems, specifically UPS systems, and will be dedicated to ensuring the reliability and performance of our critical infrastructure.

This position requires a mix of hands-on technical skills and proactive problem-solving to ensure the smooth operation of UPS systems that support our data centers, medical equipment, and other critical operations across our healthcare network.

Key Responsibilities

UPS Maintenance & Monitoring:

Perform routine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and battery replacements on UPS systems across multiple facilities in our network. Ensure all UPS systems are fully operational, monitored, and maintained according to service schedules and manufacturer guidelines.

Installation & Upgrades

Oversee the installation of new UPS systems and upgrades to existing systems across the network. Ensure proper configuration, testing, and integration with existing infrastructure, while maintaining minimal disruption to hospital operations.

Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting for UPS system failures, power outages, or performance issues. Work closely with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues promptly.

System Health Monitoring & Reporting

Regularly monitor UPS system performance using remote monitoring tools and report on system health. Develop and maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and performance metrics for all UPS systems.

Collaborative Support

Work closely with the broader Data Center Operations team, IT departments, and facility management to ensure continuity of power to mission-critical systems. Provide technical support during power-related incidents and emergencies.

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain accurate documentation of all UPS systems, including technical manuals, service logs, and compliance records. Ensure compliance with safety standards, local regulations, and industry best practices.

Training & Knowledge Sharing

Stay updated on UPS technology advancements, industry trends, and regulatory changes. Provide training and knowledge sharing to team members and other staff on UPS system operation and best practices

Working Conditions

This role will require frequent travel to different facilities within the network.

Physical demands include the ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, stand, kneel, and perform technical work in confined or challenging environments.

Must be a current undergraduate college student or graduate college student. A specific educational focus or degree may be preferred, depending on the hosting department of the internship. None required. A specific license and/or certification may be preferred, depending on the hosting department of the internship. Other qualifications may vary by department of internship.

What You Will Do Under the supervision of a nurse, provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Completes assigned nursing orders, including assisting patient with activities of daily living and taking vital signs. Observes patient status and responses; documents and reports changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to appropriate staff.
