A Brief Overview

The CHOP Cardiac Cath Lab is a world-class, high-volume congenital interventional program seeking a dynamic leader to join our team. Our cardiac catheterization suite includes four state-of-the-art labs—one hybrid room shared with the CT surgery team—and performs cutting-edge valve and lymphatic interventions available nowhere else. We are expanding with plans to grow to six labs in the coming years.
We’re hiring a hands-on clinical leader to oversee Registered Nurses, cardiovascular and electrophysiology technicians, and perioperative core techs. In this role you will:
  • Ensure smooth, efficient day-to-day operations of the cath lab
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing clinical team
  • Partner with clinical and operational stakeholders across the cardiac center
  • Drive the expansion of our clinical footprint and the growth of flagship programs

Responsible for the patient care systems and structures that promote the provision of excellent nursing care on the unit(s). Manages all nursing personnel within the unit(s). Collaborates with support staff to ensure the smooth operation of the units.

What you will do

  • 1. Creates and maintains cost effective systems to ensure the availability of adequate staff for unit/program.
  • Identifies optimal patterns of staffing to meet patient care needs of unit/program.
  • Ensures unit/program schedule is prepared in a timely manner to meet needs of employees as well as staffing standards for unit/program
  • Develop systems for daily staffing adjustment within unit/program.
  • Collaborates with nursing supervisors to ensure staffing needs within unit/program and across department are met.
  • 2. Ensures patient care provided by staff in unit/program is consistent with national standards and/or evidence-based practice.
  • Appoints staff representatives to department clinical practice committees.
  • Assists staff with development of effective systems to disseminate practice standards within unit/program.
  • Supervises clinical practice of staff through rounds, assessment of documentation and feedback from families.
  • Ensures that staff participates in educational and clinical development programs to meet specific requirements of patient population served.
  • Knowledgeable of clinical standards of care for patient population served by rehabilitation and acute care child development
  • 3. Collaborates with other departments to foster interdisciplinary practice and meet the needs of patients and families.
  • Works with leadership and staff from other disciplines to create collaborative relationships with nursing staff to meet patient care needs.
  • Works with other departments to ensure that clinical staff have systems and supplies/equipment needed to support patient care.
  • 4. Creates systems for regular family input into care and unit policies.
  • Uses patient satisfaction data and other forms of feedback to improve systems of care.
  • Involves family members in unit decision-making where appropriate.
  • Educates and supports staff to include families in planning and providing care.
  • 5. Develops active quality improvement systems for unit/program and participates in nursing department QI initiatives.
  • Ensures that unit has at least one active quality improvement initiative per year.
  • Ensures that unit is represented on departmental QI committee and participates in department QI initiatives.
  • 6. Actively supports and ensures unit participation in other departmental and hospital initiatives.
  • Ensures unit staff are educated about and comply with hospital patient safety initiatives.
  • Implements and supports human resource and financial initiatives that are part of institutional annual goals.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least two (2) years prior management or leadership experience Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, excellent leadership ability, excellent judgment.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required or
  • Registered Nurse (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required

SALARY RANGE:

$115,060.00 - $152,450.00 Annually

Job Description Performance improvement (PI) is an essential component of a Level I Trauma Center and must be a Registered Nurse . The Trauma PI Specialist works collaboratively with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director on clinical components of the Trauma Program. The Trauma PI Specialist coordinates, participates, and documents trauma performance improvement activities, identifies events, expected outcomes, loop closures and plan of care for trauma patients. Collaborates with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Director to develop and implement policies, procedures, and care management processes to improve clinical outcomes. Analyzes data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Ability to analyze and problem solve independently and disseminate data to relevant groups across the health system. Participates in the preparation and completion of internal and external reports, survey documents and site visits. Ensures the care of the trauma patient complies with current policies and guidelines. Participates in and/or facilitates trauma PI meetings. Acts as a liaison between all hospital departments and the Trauma Program. Assists with Trauma Outreach education as needed. Qualifications Must hold a minimum of BSN; Master’s degree in nursing or public health preferred (or enrolled in such a program). Must have trauma or PI experience: knowledge of trauma registry preferred. The PICU is seeking a CASUAL NIGHTS or ROTATING SHIFT Registered Nurse to join our team in Wilmington, DE. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Nemours Children's Health, Delaware is a 24-bed unit in a Level 1 Trauma Center. Patients requiring care and surveillance in the PICU will have conditions and diagnoses which may include, but are not limited to, those producing: acute and reversible loss of consciousness, respiratory failure, compromised air exchange, cardiovascular dysfunction, hepatic failure, hemodynamic instability, renal dysfunction, central nervous system injury or dysfunction, acute trauma and organ failure requiring transplantation. Treatments or interventions performed in the PICU include measures utilizing advanced life support technology. These include, but are not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, tracheal intubation, ECMO, pharmacologic support of circulation, mechanical ventilation, point of care monitoring, CRRT, thoracentesis, and hemodynamic, intracranial pressure, intravascular monitoring. Each patient room has electrocardiographic, pulse oximetry, respiratory, hemodynamic and intracranial pressure monitoring capability, as well as central EKG and respiratory monitoring. Portable monitoring during patient transport is provided. Special equipment includes; radiant warmer beds, heating/cooling blanket systems, Mapleson manual ventilation system, end tidal CO2 monitors, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, intracranial pressure monitoring system, ventriculostomy systems, infusion pumps, blood warmer, continuous renal replacement systems, and peripheral nerve stimulators. Requirements Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Experienced pediatric intensive care nurse of at least 2 years preferred. Have a current registration or be for eligible Delaware State Board of Nursing Licensure. Must be CPR certified by the American Heart Association. PALS and ACLS preferred.
