Get to Know Your Team:

UT Health Athens is a 127-bed facility, including a 24-hour ED, designated as a Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center; advanced diagnostic technology; 10-bed ICU; maternity unit radiation therapy center; and a stand-alone ED in Gun Barrel City.

Responsibilities

Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric and utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that each patient receives nursing care appropriate to his/her illness or injury.
Prioritizes patient care need based on the patient assessment and uses the nursing process to implement a plan of care appropriate to each patient’s needs.
Delivers care consistent with physician’s orders and treatment protocols and in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
Degree in nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing
Current Texas RN license
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) required within 14 days of hire and before providing direct patient care
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required before end of orientation
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required before end of orientation
NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required before end of orientation

Preferred Job Requirements:

One year of emergency nursing experience
Two years of acute care nursing experience
CEN
Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
