Endocrinology/Metabolism - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner or a Certified Physician Assistant to join our Endocrinology practice at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. Join the largest Joint Commission Accredited Inpatient Diabetes Service with the most recent recertification in February 2022.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Practice at the University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) on East and West Bank Campuses in Minneapolis, MN.

  • Work as a member of the team to independently assess and manage patients with diabetes in the inpatient setting, and implement diabetes care plans developed in collaboration with the physicians and other team members.

  • See patient population that include complex adult patients with multiple co-morbidities. Manage insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors and use of multiple medications to manage diabetes and acute hyperglycemia.

  • Work with an outstanding team of diabetes-focused physicians, nurses and advanced practice providers, providing comprehensive diabetes and hyperglycemia management.

  • Obtain patient histories, perform physical and psychological health assessments, provide patient and family education and counseling, ensure continuity of diabetes care services. Collaborates with the attending physician on patient care decisions.

  • Attend meetings and provide basic diabetes education.

  • Work in close collaboration with a team of nursing staff, diabetes educators and pharmacists.

  • Use a fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (EPIC).

Schedule:

  • Full time, 1.0 FTE

  • Monday - Friday and rotating weekday and weekend shifts.

  • No Call

We’re Looking For a PA or NP Who Is:

  • A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program.

  • Eligible or is certified through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP.

  • Licensed or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through MN Board of Nursing (NP’s).

  • Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.

  • Detailed-oriented, self-motivated and a creative problem-solver.

  • Understands and places importance on patient care and service.
