Key Responsibilities:
- Providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients in Pediatric Ophthalmology.
- Obtaining comprehensive patient histories and performing physical exams for both new and return patients.
- Performing pre-operative, post operative and urgent Ophthalmology evaluations in the Ophthalmology clinic.
- Assisting with procedures both in the clinic setting and in the operating room.
- Participates in multidisciplinary clinics and communicate effectively with all members of the team.
- Ordering necessary diagnostic tests, consultations and procedures and issuing appropriate prescriptions/medications.
- Actively participating in Department of Ophthalmology educational meetings and conferences.
- Working 40 hours per week: five 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday and will rotate primarily between Boston, Waltham, and Needham. Occasional shifts at our MEEI location as needed.
Education:
- A Master of Physician Assistant Studies
- A Master of Science in Nursing
- Previous OR experience is preferred
- Prior Ophthalmology/Pediatric experience strongly preferred
- New grad PAs will be considered
- A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (FNP or PNP)
- If a Nurse Practitioner, must also have a Surgical First Assistant certification.
