Summary of Position: 

The Perioperative Surgical Home (PSH) RN is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the pre-admission testing unit. The Perioperative Surgical Home RN is responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients in the Perioperative Surgical Home Department, utilizing established policies and procedures, ensuring safe and effective care. This position is responsible for accurately conducting and documenting patient assessments, medical histories, patient teaching, and medication reconciliation. The PSH RN cares for a varied caseload of surgical patients, making advanced assessments of the patient’s physical and psychosocial needs. The PSH RN systematically and continuously collects and assesses data in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic care for the patient and/or family. Services are provided based on the ages of the population served; 1 year through geriatric - 65 years or older and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and meet the individualized needs of all patients served in the Perioperative Surgical Home Department.
