We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. LHSH Nursing Administration: PRN

Job Summary

Primarily responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations of an assigned area. Participates in direct care about 75% of the time, with the remaining 25% involving managerial tasks. Collaborates with other staff in sharing of resources, as well as assists in the cross-functional training of the staff. Assumes the leader role in the hospital during his/her shift.

Minimum Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited program of nursing
Minimum of 3 years’ continuous clinical experience in a critical/acute care setting with at least 2 years of recent management experience preferred.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Texas.

Your Essential Job Functions

Patient Care:
• Actively participates in administering patient care and management of related services.
• Coordinates the admission, discharge and transfer of patients in collaboration with other team leaders; ensure appropriate patient status is documented in patient chart.
• Assists families and patients in teaching the skills necessary for successful post-discharge care.
• Assures that patient equipment and supplies are available and in operating condition.
• Performs clinical quality improvement activities such as patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, and staff satisfaction surveying as necessary. Identifies and implements corrective actions as necessary.
• Possesses the knowledge of growth and development of appropriate patient populations.
• Maintains the responsibility for professional growth and development.

• Delegates appropriately to non-licensed staff in keeping with job descriptions, licenses requirements and standards of practice.
