Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting outpatient psychiatry services by ensuring clients receive high-quality, compassionate, and efficient care. In this position, the Medical Assistant supports physicians, nurses, and clinical staff with patient care, clinic operations, and laboratory services. Responsibilities include assisting with examinations, collecting vital signs, performing phlebotomy and lab testing, managing clinic workflows, and providing accurate information to clients to help them fully benefit from services.

Key Responsibilities:
· Assist physicians and nursing staff with patient care, examinations, and treatments
· Prepare patients by collecting medical histories, verifying information, and obtaining vital signs
· Administer injections and perform lab testing and phlebotomy services
· Prepare and maintain exam, treatment, and lab rooms with appropriate supplies and equipment
· Support clinic operations including scheduling appointments, managing charts, and coordinating prior authorizations
· Communicate with doctors, pharmacies, laboratories, and medical specialists to support continuity of care
· Accompany individuals to medical appointments and advocate for their rights and needs
· Coordinate with nursing staff on hospital visits, discharge planning, and follow-up care
· Conduct health and medical reviews as directed by leadership
· Maintain durable medical equipment and complete quarterly checks
· Track client appointments, send reminders, and communicate health concerns to the care team
· Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with company policies
· Maintain clinic areas through light housekeeping, inventory management, and supply restocking
· Monitor lab refrigerator temperature logs and manage clinic injection calendars
· Participate in required meetings and perform other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the applicable state
· Phlebotomy training preferred
· One year of experience in a physician office or clinical setting preferred
· CPR certification preferred
Additional Qualifications:
· Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and current auto insurance
· Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to remain calm in crisis situations and adapt to a fast-paced environment
· Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and following safeguarding protocols
· Basic math, problem-solving, and computer skills, including use of electronic health records
Physical Requirements:
ADA Consideration – Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. This role requires repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and writing during the work shift. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing as needed.
