A contract opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is available to support a high school student in Scottsdale, AZ. This role is essential in providing comprehensive nursing care to a female student who is non-ambulatory and uses a wheelchair due to Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a condition that affects muscle strength and respiratory function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care tailored to the individual needs of the student, including monitoring for signs of respiratory distress and aspiration.
- Assist with cough support as needed to help maintain clear airways during the school day and bus transportation.
- Accompany the student on the bus to ensure safety and respond promptly to any medical needs during transit.
- Collaborate with school staff and healthcare providers to implement and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of care provided and communicate effectively with the student's family and school personnel.
Qualifications:
- Valid Arizona Instructional Assistant (IA) certification.
- Current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Certification in both CPR and First Aidboth are required, not CPR alone.
- Experience working with students with complex medical needs is preferred.
- Compassionate, patient, and able to work independently.
This contract position begins as soon as possible and extends through the end of the school year, with the option to renew if the match proves successful.
