Bronson Neuroscience Center has an exciting opportunity in Southwest Michigan for a goal oriented, energetic Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with an inpatient focus supporting Neurocritical Care in Kalamazoo, MI. Bronson Neuroscience Center has specialty services including but not limited to neurology, neurocritical care, neurohospitalists, neurosurgery, neuroendovascular surgery, sleep health, physiatry, neurobehavioral health, and neurodiagnostics with locations throughout southwest Michigan.

GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Come join the #1 stroke program in Michigan! The Neurocritical Care Advanced Practitioner position is an employed, full-time position that includes varied shifts and weekends. Shifts include a rotation of days (8A – 9P), nights (8P – 9A), and swing (11A - midnight). In this role, the candidate will be working collaboratively with multiple providers including Trauma Surgeons, Medical Intensivists, Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, and Hospitalists.  

The Neurocritical Care APP supports critically ill patients with neurological or neurosurgical conditions or who are at risk of developing neurological complications. This position also participates in the Stroke Call down process, provides input in performance improvement and nursing education.  The APP will perform patient assessments, medical histories, physical exams, and plan and implement plans of care in collaboration with Neurointensivist or appropriate attending. The Neurocritical Care APP will work as a collaborative member of the care team to enhance continuity of care, facilitate and coordinate a comprehensive plan of care, participate and support ongoing research studies in the ICUs, and offer their expertise to nursing and collaborating medical teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Michigan licensure/certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant granted by a Board recognized certifying organization.
  • 1-3 years NP/PA experience strongly preferred
  • New graduates will be considered with strong critical care and/or neuroscience nursing experience
  • Excellent critical thinking and communication skills are required.

  • Master's degree (MSN or MS in Nursing) and 2 years of recent clinical experience related to area of practice required
