What You'll Be Doing
The Infusion Center Medical Assistant (MA) supports the clinical and operational functions of the Infusion Center by assisting licensed nursing staff and providers with patient care activities, ensuring efficient patient flow, and maintaining a safe, compliant clinical environment. The MA works under the direction of registered nurses and providers in accordance with state regulations and organizational policies.
- Prepare patients for appointments, including vital signs, height/weight measurement.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection
- Perform EKGs and other basic diagnostic procedures as assigned.
- Observe patients for signs of distress and promptly report concerns to nursing staff.
- Reinforce provider and nursing instructions to patients, including post-visit and follow-up guidance.
- Clean and disinfect patient care areas between visits.
- Assist with inventory management, ensuring proper stocking of supplies and equipment, tracking, and expiration monitoring of supplies.
- Accurately document patient interactions, vitals, and procedures in the EMR.
- Assist with appointment coordination, referrals, and prior authorizations as directed.
- Provide courteous, compassionate, and professional care to patients and families.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including exposure control, incident reporting, and emergency procedures.
What We're Looking For
EducationHigh School Diploma or GED requiredGraduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferredCertificationCertified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) required ExperienceMinimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience preferredPrior experience in oncology, infusion services, or specialty practice preferredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflowsProficiency with EMR systemsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environmentAttention to detail and commitment to patient safetyAbility to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
