Summary:

As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in caring for individuals with cancer and cancer-related health concerns, providing both expertise and compassion at every stage of treatment. In this role, you will plan, deliver, and supervise nursing interventions, while diagnosing and treating patient responses to actual or potential health problems. Your responsibilities will include direct patient care, health teaching, and counseling, as well as providing interventions that restore and support quality of life. As a leader on the care team, you will supervise Nurse I’s, Licensed Practical Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Clinical Center Associates, ensuring safe and effective care delivery. Additionally, you will take on administrative responsibilities and be encouraged to enhance your professional growth through ongoing education, participation in workshops, in-service training, and review of current literature. This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to patient outcomes while continuing to advance your own career in oncology nursing. This position will float between the Niagara Falls and Amherst Satellite Sites.

License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.

Education and Experience

1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience; or

2. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time critical care experience; or

3. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting; or

4. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of Roswell Park nursing orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months (full-time) as a Nurse I at Roswell Park.

NOTES:

1. Incumbents will serve a one (1) year full-time probationary period as a Nurse II.

2. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

The ideal candidate will hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and possess prior experience in oncology, ambulatory care across multiple specialties (including both medicine and surgery), and dermatology. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with hands-on experience administering chemotherapy and those who have worked in offsite or satellite clinical settings.
