Scope of Responsibilities: General knowledge of nursing techniques and practices Ability to follow complex technical, oral and written instructions Completion of daily attendance Administer Over the Counter and Prescription medications to students as per written MD orders Completion of physical, visual and auditory screening examinations Administer First Aid and emergency treatment to students and staff members Orders, inventories and oversees the storage of First Aid related health supplies and equipment Maintenance of school health records Maintain compliance with NYS ED regarding student immunizations Arranges transportation for sick or injured students and staff Sensitivity in communication with Students and Parents regarding health related issues Utilization of relevant software applications (PowerSchools) Work closely with staff concerning various health factors related to attendance problems, communicable diseases, etc. Assist with Sports Physicals as needed Maintain up to date certification in CPR/ AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Attend workshops that support job performance Responsible to maintain up to date and proper certifications by the New York State authorities as a Registered Professional Nurse Other duties as assigned by the Director of Health Services and Building Principal Minimum/Preferred Qualifications: Certification to administer naloxone preferred.

Substitute Licensed Practical Nurse

Scope of Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist students with on-task behavior and completion of teacher assigned tasks including hand over hand assist if needed Assist students with questions regarding assignments Accompany/escort students in exploratory classes and therapy sessions as needed Supervise independent or small group work Assist in necessary record keeping including data collection or health records Assist in preparation of instructional materials and supplies and clean up Administer alternative testing accommodations when needed Escort students to various parts of the building Assist with student arrival and departure Attend to students physical needs including, toileting, lifting for transfers to/from wheelchair Attend to students medical needs under direction of school nurse such as GI Tube feeding, suctioning and care of tracheotomy Administer medication and/or oxygen per Physicians orders Monitor and implement behavior intervention plans if necessary Accompany students in all physical activities including in the swimming pool if necessary Follow directions of classroom teacher, therapists or other professional staff

School Nurse - Casey Middle School

Starting date: start of the 2026-2027 school year Full time Initial hours of assignment: TBD 10 months per school year REQUIREMENTS: *Must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the State of New York. Training or experience in working with children with various disabilities. School health experience working with middle school aged students. Clinical nursing experience or background. Experience working with students with chronic health conditions. Relevant experience to this setting and position. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work as a member of a team. Diligent record keeping skills. Maintains student confidentiality and adheres to FERPA/HIPPA regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assessment of health complaints, medication administration and care for students with special health care needs. Managing emergencies and urgent situations.
