About the Role:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Pulmonary Medicine department plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care within a specialized clinical setting. This full-time position, with shifts from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, focuses on supporting pulmonary medicine providers by performing nursing assessments, administering treatments, and monitoring patient progress. The LPN will collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care plans are executed effectively. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong clinical skills, and compassionate patient interaction to manage chronic respiratory conditions and acute pulmonary issues. Ultimately, the LPN contributes to improving patient outcomes and enhancing the overall efficiency of the pulmonary care team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment.
- Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and patient safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a pulmonary medicine or respiratory care environment.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly those used in pulmonary clinics.
- Demonstrated ability to educate patients and families on pulmonary health and disease management.
Responsibilities:
- Assist pulmonary medicine providers by preparing patients for examinations and procedures, including taking vital signs and documenting medical histories.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments under the supervision of physicians or nurse practitioners, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Monitor patient conditions, report changes promptly, and assist in managing chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD, and pulmonary fibrosis.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans, medication administration, and progress notes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate patient education on disease management, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.

The LPN will utilize clinical nursing skills daily to assess patient conditions, administer treatments, and monitor responses, ensuring high standards of care.
