Job Duties:

Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:

· Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations

· Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline

· Performs the following therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency as approved by the Clinical Division Chief including endometrial biopsies, colposcopies, vulvar biopsies, wound debridement, and vacuum therapy

· Develop and implement the Women’s Inclusive Sexual Health Clinic (WISH) for patients with active cancer

· and those in remission who are experiencing sexual health function issues

· Manage a Survivorship Clinic for patients who have survived cancer weekly at Hollings Cancer Center, Tidelands in Murrells Inlet, and as needed in other outreach locations (i.e. Florence and Bluffton)

· Provide on call services for inpatient population in coordination with supervising physicians

· Assure optimal outcomes for patients in a time-efficient manner while maintaining customer satisfaction and

institutional goals working with multi-disciplinary team

· Initiates referrals to other health care provides, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician

· Documents and bills for direct care provided

· Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice

· Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research

· Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization

· Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education

· Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team members

· APRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law

· AGPNP/ANP (Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP or Adult NP): Adult pts (13 years to death), stable chronic disease state management or primary care setting.

· FNP (Family NP): (birth to death) Stable chronic disease state management, primary care across the lifespan.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience as a PA, FNP or ANP in Women’s Health or Surgical Oncology.

· AGACNP/ACNP (Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner): Adult pts (13 years to death), acutely ill or injured, potentially unstable, or technologically dependent (vents, drips, monitors, etc.)

· WHNP (Women’ s Health NP): (12 years to death) OB/GYN services and well women care. Only eligible to work in women’s health; however, not certified to deliver babies.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a PA, FNP or ANP in Gynecologic Oncology. For the NP, Advanced Oncology Certification preferred.

Graduation from an approved Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessor agencies. UW Medicine is the premier academic medical center in Washington state, encompasses 4 hospitals in the Seattle metro area and is the primary referral hospital for the five-state WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) region. The department supports a residency program, four fellowship programs, including Gynecologic Oncology, and is a major teaching site for UW medical students. This is a full-time, 12 month (July 1 - June 30) academic position on a yearly appointment with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Position Responsibilities An ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management to Gynecology Oncology patients at the University of Washington Medical Center - Montlake. The ARNP/PA-C would follow patients during their chemotherapy and radiation, providing medical supportive care, postoperative care, as well as surveillance after completion of treatment. The ARNP/PA-C would work collaboratively with the treatment team to coordinate care of their patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of an attending physician. Skilled clinicians, providing evidence-based diagnosis and management of the acute, symptomatic, and palliative care needs of patients with cancer. Ability to effectively communicate information about disease processes, treatments, and management of treatment toxicities to patients and family caregivers. Scope of Work Independently performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s Understands the biology and natural history of common cancers. Provides patient education about the natural history and available treatment Evaluates and manages patients on cancer treatment Provides patient care for treatment-related side effects, as well as long-term surveillance and survivorship issues. Performs procedures according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice Collaborates and consults with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of care. Participates in the conduct of cancer clinical research Communicates changes in patient’s health status to the patient’s primary oncologist Participates in patient rounds, conferences and committees Actively participates in the development and maintenance of patient management algorithms and standing orders. Documents patient care data in Epic in accordance with the UWP policies Evaluates the physical and psychological state of the cancer patient. Provides support to patients by participating in patient and/or family teaching, counseling and rehabilitation as well as referring patients to community agencies to promote optimal adjustment and functioning. Teach and mentor new ARNP or PA-C staff & PA and/or NP students Other duties as assigned Qualifications Current and valid state Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant Licensure. Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited PA program and licensure as an ARNP or PA-C. Nationally certified ARNP/PA-C with DEA. Experience working with medically complex patients and clinical teaching experience. Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment. Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in patient care. Previous APP experience of at least 1-2 years necessary. Prior experience in Women’s Health and/or Oncology highly desired. All candidates must be eligible for and able to maintain a Washington State medical license.
