The SART Coordinator shall provide care to the sexual assault patient in the Emergency Department and oversee sexual assault statistics and coordinate care. Specific job duties shall include, but are not limited to the following:

- To work collaboratively with the SART nurses, the patient and family, and the Emergency Department providers.
- Coordinate sexual assault statistics and process improvements.
- To follow policies and procedures to reflect the best evidence-based practice in the care of the sexually assaulted patient.
- To be available for on call time.
- Maintain the credentials required of a SART RN.
- Maintain positive relationships with pertinent outside agencies (Women’s Services, CYS, Law enforcement, etc.).
- Attend meetings and continuing education.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of an accredited School of Nursing. Current BLS Healthcare Provider card. Must have current ACLS and PALS certification or obtain within six months of assignment in ED. Registered SANE-A training preferred but not required.
Current State RN Nursing License in Pennsylvania.
Analytical skills necessary to develop and implement a plan for nursing care appropriate to the patient, and to solve problems concerning patient’s mental or physical well-being.
Ability to make frequent rounds, lift patients, position patients, and to transport patients; to provide treatment and to maintain patient comfort. Must independently be able to respond to an emergency situation.
The SANE coordinator requires knowledge of psychosocial, physiological, and therapeutic components specific to the care of both adult and pediatric sexual assault cases through on-going educational activities
