Job Summary:

As a Comfort Keepers caregiver, you will provide non-clinical support that helps seniors and individuals with disabilities maintain independence, safety, and dignity at home. In addition to assisting with daily activities, you will contribute to each client’s emotional well-being through compassionate and professional care. This is a non-clinical role performed under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse, in accordance with Florida AHCA Rule 59A-8.

Primary Responsibilities:

Companionship & Social Engagement

  • Provide emotional support, conversation, and companionship
  • Participate in activities such as games, reading, walks, or outings
  • Help reduce loneliness, promote mental well-being, and encourage social connection
  • Escort clients to appointments, errands, or social activities (caregiver will not drive; transportation will be coordinated by the agency)
  • Provide timely medication reminders (without administering or handling medications)
  • Follow each client’s individualized care plan and log daily activities using agency’s system

Homemaking & Light Household Assistance

  • Prepare meals based on clients’ dietary needs and preferences
  • Support clients with safe eating practices and hydration
  • Shop for groceries and run errands (if applicable)
  • Perform light housekeeping duties including tidying, laundry, trash removal, and maintaining clean and safe living spaces
  • Identify and report potential safety hazards in the home environment

Personal Care (Requires Certification or Training)

  • Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene
  • Support toileting and incontinence care with sensitivity and discretion
  • Assist with safe mobility, transfers, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
  • Observe and report changes in skin condition, mobility, or overall health status

Qualifications:

Training & Certification Requirements

  • All caregivers must meet one of the following:
    • Hold a valid CNA license, or
    • Hold an HHA certificate
  • Regardless of certification or training, all caregivers must also successfully complete a competency skills check (provided by the agency)

Compliance Requirements

  • Level 2 background screening (required)
  • Current CPR certification (required prior to hire; to be obtained independently)
  • Recent TB test (required prior to hire; to be obtained independently)
  • Physical health screening (required prior to hire; to be obtained independently)

Other Requirements

  • Bilingual: English and Spanish
  • Physical ability to assist with client mobility and household tasks
  • Basic smartphone skills (for care documentation app)
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and respect for client privacy

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Previous caregiving experience (professional or family).

Compensation & Contract Terms:

  • Salary: $16-$17 per hour

This flexible structure allows caregivers to accept shifts that fit their personal schedules, while providing essential care to our clients as services are requested.

Completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program and successful passing of a state-approved competency examination, where required. Demonstrates effective time management skills.
