Job Summary
Summary: Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.Does this position require Patient Care? Yes
Essential Functions:
- Performs patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including, but not limited to, performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, 1:1 patient observation for safety purposes, and phlebotomy. Assist RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required.
- Completes all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Assists patients with food tray setup, eating, and feeding if necessary.
- Ensures that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate and as patient volumes change.
- Retrieves equipment from other areas, sets up equipment, cleans equipment between patient use, and reports malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy.
- Assists with admitting and discharging patients.
- Facilitates orientation of new PCA team members as directed.
- Interacts with patients, visitors, and other care team members effectively
- Communicates with nursing staff in an effective and timely manner around issues related to patient care and patient condition.
- Fosters a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting teamwork and professional growth.
- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS Certification]- preferred
Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification]- preferred
Emergency Medical Technician- preferred
Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician [National Certification]- preferred
Experience
Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong patient/customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
