An early childhood educational setting in DeKalb, IL, is seeking a part-time registered nurse to provide skilled nursing care for a preschool-aged student on a 1:1 basis. This contract position runs through the current school year (CSY) and early summer session (ESY), with a consistent schedule Monday through Thursday from 8:20 AM to 12:45 PM, totaling 18 hours per week. Fridays are off.

Responsibilities include providing nursing support to a preschooler who requires tracheostomy and ventilator care. The role involves assisting with bus transportation: parking at the elementary school, walking across the street to meet the student at home, and accompanying them on the bus to the preschool facility. The nurse will collaborate closely with assigned paraeducators or other designated staff for supervision.

Qualifications and experience needed:

  • Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (LPNs will not be considered)
  • Previous experience working in school health settings or with pediatric populations, especially early childhood
  • Ability to manage tracheostomy and ventilator care independently
  • Comfortable with the logistics of walking and bus riding as part of the daily routine
