POSITION SUMMARY

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) of Marshall’s outpatient clinics works with medical caregivers to ensure effective medical care is delivered to all patients in a timely, dignified and caring manner.  Through the coordination of patient care, the LVN enables physicians to provide the highest quality of care while maximizing the physician’s ability to see patients in a timely manner.  Under the direction of the Physician, the LVN coordinates the flow of patients through the office and assists providers within the LVN scope of practice. The LVN monitors patients for preventative care needs and provides nursing care according to Marshall’s standard of practice. Maintains good public relations by interacting with patients, visitors, physicians and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner. 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required. 

  • Current CA Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) required. 

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Knowledge:

  • One year of experience practicing as an LVN preferred. 

Skills:

  • Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required. 

  • Must have injection skills, phlebotomy skills, EKG experience and medication administration skills. 

  • Basic computer and data entry skills.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology, patient/family health education, instrument sterilization techniques and taking vital signs also required.

  • Comfortable with regularly verifying and processing insurance eligibility and obtaining authorization requests, including verifying personal credentials with external partners to obtain this information (e.g., ID.me for identity verification for VA insurance coordination).
