Responsibilities Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider). Assist with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Perform select clinical duties. Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients. Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing. Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment. May document the provider's encounter with patients. List all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribe patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications. Requirements Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Certified Medical Assistant obtained within 4 Months (120 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Approved credentialing bodies include, but may not be limited to: American Medical Technologists, National Healthcare Assoc, National Center for Competency Testing, National Assoc for Health Professionals and American Assoc of Medical Assistants. Education: High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Provides patient care in the Occupational Health setting in office or onsite under the supervision of the medical provider. Meets the communication needs of the companies, patients and medical provider. Maintains and follows regulatory requirement and policies and procedures. Communicates with medical providers and staff about patient’s clinical condition Customer Services: Welcoming patients and visitors. Answering and referring inquiries within scope of practice. Telephone: Answers telephone, processes calls, schedules patients for appointments and document appropriately within medical records. Returns all messages in a timely manner. Maintains communication between medical staff, administrative staff, companies and/or patient/families. Clinical Services: Maintains and updates medical records. Contributes to the overall cleanliness and appearance of personal work space and department. Monitors clinical supply levels in exam rooms and stock room and requests when needed. Maintains all clinical equipment. Evaluates all equipment for damage or maintenance needs and reports when needed.
