Advanced Practice Provider (CNS/NP/PA) - Cancer Risk Management

University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or a Physician Assistant to join our Cancer Risk Management practice.

The Cancer Risk Management APP consults and provides screening recommendations for patients who have a high genetic risk of developing cancer.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Provide consultation for adult patients with a high genetic risk of developing cancer.
  • Develop individualized surveillance plans that may include screening tests, prescribing preventative agents, and lifestyle modifications to reduce cancer risk.
  • Consult and partners with specialists to recommend individualized surveillance and medical management and identify early cancer occurrences.
  • Refer patients with cancer diagnoses to specialists for medical and surgical management of newly diagnosed cancers.
  • Partner with team of genetic counselors, geneticists and specialty providers in adult care and collaborates with cancer genetics care team in pediatrics.
  • Provides leadership and support to patient support groups as needed.
  • Stays on top of national guidelines for cancer syndromes and provides guidance and training for providers.
  • Perform skin punch biopsies or other biopsies as needed for genetic testing.
  • This position will work between the Edina or Burnsville Cancer Centers and the Masonic Cancer Clinic at the University of Minnesota.

Schedule:

  • 1.0 FTE
  • M-F day hours. No call or weekends.

We’re Looking For:

  • A graduate of an accredited Clinical Nurse Specialist, Physician Assistant or formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program.
  • Eligible or is certified through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP.
  • Licensed or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through MN Board of Nursing (NP’s).
  • Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
  • Prefer provider be certified as an Advanced Clinical Genomics Nurse (ACGN) credentials through Nurse Portfolio Credentialing Commission (NPCC).
