Job Overview Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at our M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital location in Burnsville, MN. Fairview Ridges Hospital provides care for patients with many different acute and chronic diagnoses including, but not limited to, sepsis, renal disease, respiratory illnesses, overdoses, withdrawals, CVA’s, acute myocardial infarction, pneumonia and more. Our complex patients may require ventilation, continuous hemodynamic monitoring, and continuous renal replacement therapy. Schedule : This position will be working .6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hour nights with every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). About the ICU at Ridges Hospital : Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN is a community based, 150 bed, level III designated trauma center. Our 12 Bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a face-paced and highly technical environment where safety, quality, and patient and family centered care is established. In our unit, you will also have the opportunity to pick up shifts. Free parking! As an ICU RN, you will be responsible for: Assessing patient needs and identifying expected nursing outcomes; Developing an individualized nursing plan of care; Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care; Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes; Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes; Coordinating care with members of the health care team and delegating responsibilities to others as appropriate; Demonstrating the ability to advance care by applying standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes; Promoting a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities; and Performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. This unit is a 26 Bed that unit cares for adult orthopedics, spine, total joint replacements, general surgery, post-surgical recovery and medical patients. This position is a .8 FTE, working 64 hours per 2 week pay period. This position works 8-hour shifts, every other weekend rotation (Fri,Sat,Sun), and on the evening (3pm-11:30pm) shift. The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse. Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include: Personal grooming, bathing, toileting, Feeding, Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams, Oral hygiene, Specimen collection/testing, Position/ambulating, Changing linens, Promptly answers call lights. Assists the nurse in monitoring patient condition. Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation. Places patient on/off monitors or equipment. Reports unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner. Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients. Orients patient and their family to the environment. Assures the patient’s belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge.
