  • 15 or more years’ experience working as a Surgical Tech
  • Grandfathered into Surgical Tech (911005) prior to 02/12/2017

Record keeping skills sufficient to manage required documentation

 

Working knowledge of OR instruments, equipment, and procedures

 

Licensure, Registration, Certification:

 

BLS

 

One of the following:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • For incumbents grandfathered into Surgical Tech (911005) position prior to 02/12/2017, current certification as a Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

 

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for perioperative patients.  Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with Infirmary Health’s standards. Positions patients according to type of surgery. Maintains aseptic techniques. Cleans, prepares, stores, distributes, and maintains various supplies, equipment, and instruments to assure efficiency operation and patient safety in the operating room. Services as a resource to other department staff.

Responsibilities In your role, you will: Gather and prepare instruments, equipment, medications and supplies for each case and according to doctors' preference cards. Establish and maintain sterile field and surgical aseptic technique. Assist in transporting and preparing the patient for surgical procedure (i.e. shaving, positioning and draping). Perform first scrub functions and procedures in the majority of surgical procedures performed at the facility. Assist the surgeon and surgical team by passing instruments, sutures, medications and/or supplies as appropriate.
