Cedar Hills Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our clinical team at our skilled nursing facility located in Clemmons, NC. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing care, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and fostering a positive and collaborative environment for both residents and staff.
Position Summary:
The Director of Nursing will manage all aspects of the nursing department, including clinical operations, staffing, care planning, compliance, and quality improvement. The ideal candidate is a compassionate and strategic leader with strong clinical knowledge and proven success in long-term care or post-acute settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, manage, and evaluate all nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs)
- Oversee daily clinical operations and ensure delivery of quality patient care
- Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory guidelines
- Direct nursing care planning, admissions, discharges, and care transitions
- Collaborate with medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other departments to support resident outcomes
- Ensure accurate documentation, charting, and record-keeping practices
- Monitor staffing needs, scheduling, and retention strategies
- Participate in facility quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
- Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for nursing personnel
- Monitor budgets and control nursing department expenditures
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff and facility leadership
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in the state of North Carolina (or eligible for reciprocity)
- Minimum 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
- Proven experience as a Director of Nursing, Assistant DON, or Nurse Manager
- Strong understanding of nursing regulations, clinical standards, and compliance requirements
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and lead an effective team while maintaining high staff morale
- Proficient in care planning, clinical systems, and EMR documentation
- CPR certification required; additional certifications a plus
- Strong organizational and critical-thinking skills
