Job Summary: 

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PRN Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to join our team at Emerald Nursing & Rehab Brookside, a leading skilled nursing facility committed to providing exceptional care to our residents. The CMA will play a crucial role in administering medications, monitoring resident health, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all individuals under our care. This position offers flexibility with scheduling and is ideal for those looking to work on an as-needed basis. 

Work Environment: 

This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Medication Administration: Accurately administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with facility protocols and physician orders. Ensure proper documentation of medication administration and report any discrepancies or issues to the supervising nurse. 

  • Resident Monitoring: Observe and document changes in residents' conditions, including vital signs and any adverse reactions to medications. Communicate observations and concerns to the nursing staff and assist with any necessary follow-up actions. 

  • Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean and organized medication storage area. Follow infection control procedures and safety protocols to ensure a hygienic and safe environment for residents. 

  • Resident Support: Provide compassionate and respectful assistance to residents, addressing their needs and preferences while fostering a supportive and empathetic atmosphere. 

  • Communication: Collaborate with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care plans and ensure that residents' needs are met. Communicate effectively with residents' families regarding medication-related concerns and changes in health status. 

  • Documentation: Accurately complete all required documentation, including medication administration records, resident health observations, and incident reports. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and facility policies. 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional relevant training or coursework in healthcare or medication administration is a plus. 

  • Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a skilled nursing facility or similar environment, is preferred but not required. 

  • Certifications: Current certification as a Medication Aide (CMA) as required by Nebraska regulations. 

  • Communications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals and build positive relationships with residents and their families. 

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and transfer residents as needed, and to perform tasks that require physical stamina and endurance.
