40Job Description Summary:
The Medical Assistant, under the supervision of the Clinical Lead and Practice Leader, is responsible for assisting in the delivery of healthcare and patient care management. This role assists the providers within the scope of practice to provide quality patient care. This includes gathering patient information, assessing patient requests, obtaining and monitoring patient vitals, assisting with procedures, and adhering to infection prevention practices.Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions:

$28.00 - $31.21 - $36.41
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Direct patient care:
Rooming patients, including obtaining vital signs, obtaining reason for visit, and documenting symptoms their frequency, and severity.
Prepares accurate medication list utilizing medication review standard workflow.
Documents all required information in electronic medical records.
Provide injections and immunizations as ordered by the provider.
Provide assistance during medical procedures.
Obtain all patient information required to meet regulatory obligations.
Track the receipt of all results for all ordered tests.
Ability to perform POCT as well as all quality controls.
Assist in patient education.
Other duties as assigned.
Communication and correspondence including lab results, prescription management, and referrals:
Use electronic medical records and work off “task lists” to complete patient visits or requests.
Follows critical lab result protocol.
Provides patients with accurate information when answering questions and concerns.
Maintains patient records and protects patient confidentiality.
Complete referrals accurately and appropriately.
Utilizes closed-loop communication to ensure providers and required staff aware of patient status.
Obtain medical records and imaging
Follow up on pre-operative tests
Confirm receipt of medical clearances from primary care physicians or specialists.
Maintain patient areas and supplies:
Disinfect exam rooms between patients and all patient areas at the end of the day.
Assist with clinic upkeep, including daily cleaning and supply ordering/inventory.
Adheres to infection prevention practices related to Instructions for Use (IFUs), re-processing standards of instruments and equipment.
General:
Remains calm and effective in an emergency or in high-pressure situations.
Collaborate with team members on various ongoing projects.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Comply with all OSHA and safety regulations.
This position may require working in multiple locations.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate required.
Licenses/Certifications:
BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required.
A Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited program such as NHA AND AMCA required.
Experience
At least two years of related medical assisting experience with front and back office responsibilities at a physician’s office or other clinical setting, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Re-processing/ procedural experience is preferred.
Experience in at least one specialty area preferred.
Experience with insurance and prior auth preferred.

Compensation:
The posted pay range complies with applicable law and reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Individual pay is set by skills, experience, qualifications, and internal/market equity, consistent with MarinHealth’s compensation philosophy. Positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by those agreements.
