Our primary focus is tertiary/quaternary surgical care using team based staffing. Our complex surgery uses the most advanced technology, including hybrid suites and robotic surgery. Services include but are not limited to: General Surgery, Urology, Transplant, Cardiac, Vascular, Thoracic, OHNS, OMFS, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, and Neurosurgery. Required Qualifications 2-3 years Adult Operating Room (OR) RN clinical experience Minimum 2 years’ experience in scrubbing and circulating Neurosurgery cases, including Neurovascular (Open and Intraop angiography), Functional, Peripheral nerve and Neurooncological specialties. Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations Excellent verbal and written skills. Must be well organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and work independently and under pressure. Under the Direction of the nurse manager and guided by the policies and procedures of Ambulatory Services, the RN utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. The RN will be responsible for indirect care of patients by providing patient advice resulting in comfort, infection prevention, safety, and patient protection. The RN will reinforce and provide clarification on patient advice as documented by the attending physician or resident, as well as provide guidance affecting wound care and post-wound care instructions. The RN will clarify self-care instructions for post-clinic visits and independently assess patient concerns and give advice within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act. The RN will triage telephone calls from patients, patient representatives, physicians, physician representatives, pharmacies, and dermatology team members. The RN will serve as a conduit for inquiries related to, but not limited to prescription refills, medication use and side effects, clinically-related inquiries, and provide clinical guidance accordingly. The RN will be given access to incoming Cisco calls from adult general dermatology patients who have clinical inquiries. The RN may be routinely asked to help room dermatology patients in clinics, provide direct patient care, and assist with surgical procedures and repairs. The RN will help obtain intake information (chief complaint, list of medications taking /not taking, confirm pharmacy of choice, allergies, family history of skin cancer, pain rating) and ensure that patients are placed escorted into clinic rooms to support safe clinic flow.
