Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Develops, establishes and implements the philosophy, objectives, policies and standards of the Nursing
- Organizes the Nursing Department to delineate authority, functional responsibilities and lines of communication.

- Determines staffing requirements in relation to patient care standards and develops procedures to maintain an
- Maintains a system of continuing evaluation of nursing service provided for patients.
- Maintains up-to-date policy procedure manuals for all nursing units and evaluates their effectiveness.
- Establishes an effective system of clinical and administrative nursing records and reports.
- Directs the preparation of the personnel, equipment and supply budgets for the Nursing Department.
- Directs the development and implementation of orientation, training and continuing education programs for

- Plans for and coordinates use of clinical facilities by colleges and other agencies for nursing education
- Participates in the development of policies and health programs for the health care setting and System policies
- Develops and maintains sound relationships with the community, labor and professional groups in developing
- May serve as a consultant for the System for the overall nursing practice, service and education programs;

- Attends community conferences and committee meetings with administrative, Medical Board and department
- Conducts and chairs staff meetings and working committees with all levels of nursing personnel.
- Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State; and,
- A Master's Degree in Nursing Administration or an equivalent field, and a minimum of four years of high-level responsible experience in nursing administration, three years of which shall have been in a hospital; or,
- A satisfactory equivalent. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
