JOB SUMMARY

The Telemetry Technician (TT) and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a combined role. The TT portion of the role has responsibility for the continuous monitoring, interpretation, communication and documentation of cardiac rhythms, rhythm components and telemetry indicators for multiple patients.  The individual will view multiple patients’ electrocardiographic displays to monitor noninvasive cardiac activity of patients and notify appropriate healthcare personnel on variances in the electrocardiographic pattern.  The Telemetry Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting routine technical concerns with equipment and notifying biomedical equipment individuals for non-basic repairs.

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) portion of the role works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and in accordance to the patient/family care plan to collect patient information and provide direct patient care contributing significantly to the achievement of patient and family outcomes.  As a member of the direct care team, the CNA is responsible and accountable for complete and accurate collection and recording of data, completion of routine and delegated direct patient care activities and communicating and collaborating with the Registered Nurse to prioritize workload.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Education qualifications must be from a school whose accreditation is recognized by Marshfield Clinic Health System.

Minimum Required: Successful completion of the Electrocardiogram (ECG) course within three months of hire or a score of 85% or greater on the ECG challenge exam.

Preferred/Optional: Completion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or First Responder courses.

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum Required: None

Preferred/Optional: One year experience as a Telemetry/Monitor Technician. One year experience with direct patient care. Experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position, which must be maintained in good standing:

Minimum Required: Must have or have had a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification awarded by the State of Wisconsin. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association within three months of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Completion of a Monitor Technician certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
